Happiness is a vague term, it can mean one thing to one person while another might consider the exact opposite of it as happiness but something we can all collectively agree is that happiness gives us a sense of comfort,so how is this related to acceptance?
To put it in the most basic terms, in the current world we are surrounded by expectations, expectations from our parents, expectations from society and what not. In order to fulfill these expectations, we tend to set goals for ourselves and when we fail to accomplish these goals, we enter a downward spiral that will make us feel bad about ourselves. We go through this spiral because we cannot accept reality, mostly because it is not what we pictured for ourselves.
So what am I trying to say here, not to set goals for yourself? Absolutely not, that would be nothing but plain ignorance. What you should try to understand is that,in life you cannot change some facts, the family that you were born into, your ethnicity, your body features etc. The people around you may tell you there is a particular way things are supposed to be(it could be about your body, the job you're doing etc) ,but society doesn't set the rules, you should accept who you are, cause when you accept who you are, it gives you a sense of comfort, which leads to happiness as I mentioned earlier, Hence coming full circle like a symbiotic relationship.
What you can do as a person about the situation is simple, accept and love people for who they are and as for yourself, don't act as someone else,so in the long run you won't be tired of the character you are trying to be but will accept yourself for yourself and the people around you will as well.
